St. Louis Secondary School was established on 18th January 1951 as a boarding school. It is a Catholic mission school owned by the Catholic Diocese of Kano, and run by the Sisters of St. Louis (Nigeria Province). It is the first Secondary Schools for girls in Kano State. It was named St. Louis Secondary School after the Institute of the Sisters of St. Louis, who came from Ireland to begin the school, at the invitation of Arch Bishop John McCarthy.
The motto of the school is โUT SINT UNUMโ, meaning โMAY THEY BE ONEโ. These words are written over the school crest, underneath are written DIEU LE VEULT, meaning โGOD WILLS ITโ.
The school and the staff are international in character, we came from different cultural and religious backgrounds, yet we aim above all to live together as one happy family.
