The prestigious Doucet Scholarship 2026 offers a fully funded research stay at the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory in Frankfurt, Germany. Designed for early-career researchers—particularly those interested in colonial legal history and leveraging the rare Doucet Collection—this opportunity provides generous support for a three-month residency beginning in January 2026.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Monthly stipend of €1,365 for living expenses
  • Airfare coverage up to €1,500 (transatlantic) or €750 (within Europe) 
  • Option to rent accommodation in the institute’s residence (~€680/month)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Early-career researchers (Master’s graduates, PhD candidates, or early post-docs)
  • Residing outside Frankfurt—especially encouraged for applicants from Latin America.
  • Research proposal centered on the history of colonial law, leveraging the Doucet Collection
  • Applicants may submit materials in English or Spanish.
