Lagos State University (LASU) has officially released the schedule for its 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremonies.

The combined ceremony will cover graduands from the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions and will run from 12 August to 23 August 2026.

This guide provides the full event schedule, important dates, and essential instructions for all graduands.

Step 1: Pre-Convocation Activities

The convocation begins with preliminary events on Wednesday, 12 August 2026:

  • Press Conference – Senate Chamber, Main Campus (10:00 a.m.)
  • Staff Sports Competition – LASU Sports Centre (12:00 noon)

Step 2: Main Convocation Events

The main events include cultural activities, lectures, degree awards, and thanksgiving services.

Day 2 – Thursday, 13 August
  • Staff Celebration Day – Buba Marwa Auditorium (2:00 p.m.)

Day 3 – Friday, 14 August
  • Coconut Breaking & Cultural Day – Badagry Gate (9:00 a.m.)
  • Convocation Jumat Service – University Mosque (1:00 p.m.)

Day 4 – Monday, 17 August
  • Award of Diplomas & Degrees (Engineering, Agriculture, Science)
  • Venue: Epe Campus (10:00 a.m.)

Day 5 – Tuesday, 18 August
  • Convocation Lecture – 9:00 a.m.
  • Award of Degrees – 10:00 a.m.
  • Venue: Buba Marwa Auditorium

  • PhD & Honorary Degree Awards – 10:00 a.m.

Step 3: Important Notice to Graduands

All graduands must follow these important instructions:

  • Complete payment via the LASU convocation portal
  • Check email regularly for updates
  • Complete clearance before the ceremony

Step 4: Academic Gown Rules & Penalties

Graduands must strictly follow gown guidelines:

  • Return deadline: 21 August 2026
  • Late return penalty: ₦1,000 per day
  • Replacement cost:
    • ₦36,000 (First Degree)
    • ₦45,000 (Postgraduate)

Important:
Failure to return gowns will delay certificate collection.

Step 5: Certificate Collection

Certificates will be issued immediately after the convocation ceremony.

Condition:
Graduands must return their academic gowns before collecting certificates.

Step 6: Dress Code & Conduct Rules

Graduands must observe the following:

  • Wear correct academic gowns for your faculty
  • Follow tassel rules (right to left for first degrees)
  • Male graduands should bow when greeting the Vice-Chancellor
  • Female graduands should shake hands respectfully

Seating & Movement Rules:
  • Guests must be seated by 8:30 a.m.
  • Graduands must join procession by 9:00 a.m.
  • No movement during ceremony
  • No photography inside the auditorium
