History of St. Louis Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti
St Louis Grammar School, Ikere - Ekiti, located at Kajola Street, Along Ado-Ekiti road in Ikere - Ekiti. It is a single-sex (girls) school with boarding facilities. The school was founded on 3rd February, 1961. The pioneering students started at a temporary Site at St Louis Grammar School, Akure in Ondo State. The total number of students that kick started the school was thirty – two (32). The first Principal of the school was Sister Bruno Lally, assisted by Mr. J. B. Ogunlana and four (4) other members of staff. The school was relocated to its present site on 15th January, 1962 with a two (2) storey building and three (3) bungalow buildings. The administration of the school was handled by the sisters of Saint Louis, a dedicated and committed group of religious women from Ireland. The school became famous and embraced by everybody in the State and beyond. The school graduated its first set of students in 1966 with only thirteen (13) out of the thirty-two (32) students that were admitted at the beginning. The first set of the school recorded 92.3% pass at the West African Senior School Certificate Examination in 1966. Their performance brought the school to limelight till today. St Louis Grammar School was taken over by the Old Western State in 1974 before Old Ondo State was created in 1976 and thereafter Ekiti State was created in 1996 and inherited the school because of its location. In quest to maintain the high standard of education laid by the St. Louis Sisters, the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti State signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ekiti State Government in order for the Catholic Mission to take over the school back. On 21st July, 2021, the Diocesan Coordinator was posted to the school by the Catholic Mission for the takeoff of transition. However, the Mission students were admitted in September, 2022. The transition period is five (5) years; before the Catholic Mission will take full possession of the school.

St. Louis Grammar School is a school that offers a girl-child the education that will enable her to realize her full intellectual potentials, to create a position impact for personal growth, increase self-esteem and encourage a more focused and active learning environment for a girl-child.

Tradition
The school sustains a tradition of teaching the girls the fear of God as it was laid down by the founding Sisters of St. Louis. Up until today, prayers are said 6:00am, 12:00 noon and 6:00pm daily and Mass on Sundays and Wednesdays. Past and present students are known to be well cultured, excellent, modest, neat, and responsible. The tradition and foundation was laid many years ago and is still sustained.
The students have been excellent in academics and in co-curricular activities winning laurels in all endeavors. The tone of the school in area of discipline is exceptionally high and it is commended by visitors, examination bodies and educational supervisory officials.
The boarding facilities are excellent, well maintained and thoroughly supervised by dedicated mission staff resident on the school compound. Medical facilities are provided for students by qualified nurse and other nursing aids. However, severe cases are referred to appropriate government hospitals. The school is supported by dynamic Parent Teachers Association (PTA) and School Based Management Committee (SBMC).
Subjects are offered in areas of Arts, Social Sciences, Technology, Sciences and Linguistics. The school has three science Laboratories and one Home Management Laboratory. Recently, the school had a standard Computer Laboratory in preparation to make all the students Computer-literate. The computers are to be linked with the internet to bring the students at par with their colleagues on current international information. The project was put in place by ETF.
The school has always performed excellently well in WASSCE and NECO SSCE. There are several curricular activities e.g. Clubs and Societies etc.
The school has continually maintained a tradition of excellence in all aspect of school life and it is known for high discipline, orderliness, cleanliness, modesty, thoroughness, and Godliness and these are glaring in Old Girls of the school. The teaching and non-teaching staff are exceptionally committed and hardworking.
