About Mbari Mbayo School
Founded in 1988 by erudite educationist, Mary Ajibola Aiyegbusi (nee Ajasin). Mbari Mbayo School emerged by divine inspiration to mould and transform human lives through academic excellence, vocational training and moral aptitude. From initial humble beginnings, the school has grown to include co-educational pre-school, nursery, primary and secondary sections.
Our Founder derived the school name from a eulogy for twins by the Yoruba tribe. The indigenous words ‘mbari mbayo’ literarily mean “If only I had (twins) I would rejoice.” Love for children has become the heartbeat of the school, and every child is treated as a unique human being to be cherished and celebrated.
In a tribute to Mrs. Aiyegbusi in her autobiography: Footprints of My Life (2011), Major-General S.A. Odunsi wrote “She is an educationist per excellence whose excellent style of administration is unequalled. She has ploughed her doggedness, courage, Spartan determination and expertise in human engineering into the Mbari Mbayo education project. The school which stands out today amongst the best, is a product of a methodical and systematic investment into the lives of these children, and largely, the future generations of youths. It produces the Total Man/Woman in them.”
