Can I Study Medicine at Covenant University?
If you're wondering whether Covenant University currently offers a medical (MBBS) degree, here's the latest update:
Not Yet — Medicine Is Not Yet Available
Covenant University does not currently offer Medicine & Surgery, Law, or Nursing as part of its academic programs. These are expected in the future, but do not have enrollment just yet.
Future Plans Are in the Works
In January 2023, the Chancellor officially announced that the university is planning to build facilities and start formal Medicine and Law programs. Approximately ₦6 billion has been budgeted for this expansion.
In the Meantime: Related Science Programs Available
Although Medicine isn't offered yet, Covenant University provides degrees in medical-related fields such as Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, and Health Information Management. These programs can serve as stepping stones toward careers in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or research.
Global Pathways Through Partnership
The university has also initiated a partnership with St. George’s University, Grenada, aimed at creating a pathway for Covenant graduates (especially those in Life Sciences) to join their medical program abroad after completing pre-clinical years.
