Assemblies foster unity by bringing the entire school together, something that rarely happens during the academic day. They help set the tone for the week or term and provide a moment of reflection, especially when used for motivational talks or moral instruction.
Arguments Against
Critics argue that school assemblies consume valuable academic time that could be used for teaching and learning. In a tightly packed school schedule, even 30 minutes spent weekly on assemblies adds up to hours of lost instructional time across a term.
